Barmore Family | Lake Bistineau Family Photographer | Courtney Winters Photography
Meet the Barmore family! They are such a sweet little family that I have loved getting to know over the years! We first met back in, oh I want to say, 2015 when I was pregnant with my little girl and little Addie was barely even a year old! My brother in law worked with Tenille so he referred her to me! We met out on our land at 8:00 in the morning and had our first session together! Thankfully, the stuck with me even though back then I still hadn’t really mastered my skills as a photographer. I was thrilled the next year when they wanted to book again! This time we met at a little park near their home and I got to meet their doggie! Unfortunately, I wasn’t very good at keeping up with my blog in those years, so I can’t link you back to their past sessions. BUT I CAN show you their updated one! This one was, hands down, my favorite session we’ve had together!
Last year, they made the move to Oklahoma. We tried to work in a session before the move but we just couldn’t get everything to come together. Then, a few weeks before Christmas, Tenille contacted me saying they were coming down for Christmas and wanted to have a session while they were in town! Talk about feeling honored!! There were only a few days that would work for them, seeing they were only going to be here a few days. So we made it work! Two days before Christmas, on a very chilly morning, we drove out to Lake Bistineau and had a great time!
This was my first time shooting at Lake Bistineau! I had heard many things about how amazing it was to shoot at and I had seen other photographers images from there, I had just never been out and done any myself. Let me tell you, it was gorgeous! All the moss in the trees.. *insert heart eye emoji* It was well worth the drive! I can’t wait to see what it looks like with a little more life in the trees!
Like all of my sessions, I tried to make it as fun as possible! I’m sure you’ve noticed how I’ve gotten away from over-posed.. poses, and started towards fun, relaxed, REAL moments! One of my favorite ways to achieve this is by having everyone hold hands and walk towards me.. without looking at me! I want them to look at each other! This always brings out some real smiles, laughter, and FUN! I loved letting the girls just run around and have fun while I grabbed some shots of them. It’s hard to expect little kiddos to sit still and smile at the camera, so I try to avoid that! Of course, we do need AT LEAST one of those shots though!
I know you’ve probably had enough of my ramblings, so let’s get to the GOOD part!! Their beautiful images!!
